MEGADETH Drummer Issues Studio Update
December 14, 2008MEGADETH is in the final stages of the songwriting process for the band's new album, which is tentatively expected sometime next year via Roadrunner Records. The CD is once again being helmed by acclaimed British producer Andy "Undie" Sneap, who produced MEGADETH's last album, "United Abominations" (May 2007, Roadrunner Records).
MEGADETH's forthcoming LP will be the group's first with guitarist Chris Broderick, who replaced Glen Drover at the end of last year.
MEGADETH drummer Shawn Drover has issued the following update via the "Forums" section of the band's official web site:
"So I arrived on Wednesday, right on the heels of Mr. Sneap (he arrived from the U.K. on Tuesday) and with each passing day, we seem to get more done than the last, I am happy to say. This morning Dave [Mustaine, MEGADETH mainman], myself and Andy finished another tune, and as I write this, I am almost finished recording the song that I have written. Dave had to step out for a few hours, so he will most likely hear it on Monday morning. No idea at all if it will or will not make the record, so we will have to see about that one. Andy and I both dig it, so there you go.
"It has been a good creative week. The pieces to the musical puzzle are slowly being put together, and I like what I am hearing. I hope you will as well.
"I am going back home right before Christmas and my daughter Alexa's 21st birthday. I promised her we would go out and have a drink or two, so that should be fun. Then it's Christmas Eve, and once again last-minute shopping for me. With the economy being so bad, I am sure to find a few good deals at the mall, eh?"
MEGADETH will embark on the "Priest Feast" European tour in February 2009 with headliners JUDAS PRIEST and openers TESTAMENT.
Released on September 30, MEGADETH's "Anthology: Set The World Afire" (Capitol/EMI) career-spanning 2-CD and digital collection sold around 2,600 copies in the United States in its first week of release, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
